Too many Water-type gym leaders?

I find it odd they never created another FEMALE Gym leader. Why is it all the water users after Misty have been male?

I would have liked to see a different, better take on a female Gym leader. I could have seen them go with a heavy Asian female look for a new female water user in contrast to Misty's orange-hair. Plus I would love to see a new water female Gym leader just for the sake of seeing how the Misty fandom would react.
