Shri is the Hindu religion’s holy sound of cosmic auspiciousness and plenty.  It symbolises plenty, auspiciousness, opulence, grace, richness, brightness, brilliance, grandeur, beauty, loveliness, and authority.

It can also be written as Sri or Shree or Sree or Shri. We would use it interchangeably in this article.

Sri symbol has been used since Vedic times.  Holiness is attached to any word written or spoken with Sri.  Sri is also added before a name to show respect.

Shri is the most often used symbol in Hinduism, after ‘Aum’ () and Swastika. Sri is also the Hindu goddess of riches and prosperity Lakshmi’s holy emblem. As a result, this sign is written on the top of the ledgers and papers.
