Macaulay Culkin was one of the biggest child stars of the '90s and was known for so many iconic films: Home Alone, My Girl, Richie Rich, and The Pagemaster, just to name a few. But in 1994, he took a break from acting with no one knowing if he'd ever return. He has done a few projects since, but his standout performance in 2021 in American Horror Story: Double Feature, the Ryan Murphy anthology series' 10th season, made a huge splash.
In a 2004 interview with Larry King, Culkin talked about his early decision to take a step back, saying, "When I was put in a position where I could take control of my own life and my own destiny and make decisions that were solely for my benefit and not for anyone else to make money on, or anything like that, I did. I jumped in there and I kind of just said, I’m retired … Essentially, I had to take control. I was going crazy by that point. I knew it was, you know, if I just kept on doing it, I’d go nuts."
